….and other lessons I’ve learned as a stay-at-home mom….today.
You could also add to the list:
- A good day consists of changing out of pajamas by noon
- A great day consists of changing out of pajamas and showering by noon
- Don’t feed the baby if she’s insisting on practicing raspberries
- Or at least don’t feed the baby at close range if you’ve already changed into your outfit for the day
- 8 a.m. is a FANTASTIC time to hit up Stop and Shop
- But eat breakfast first; otherwise you will succumb to horrible mistakes like microwavable Thai food in a box
- Don’t bother putting socks on the baby unless you want to be bending down behind the stroller every five minutes to pick up the little, pink bunny sock lying forlorn in the frozen foods aisle
- You might feel all hip and green prancing through the grocery story while pushing a stroller with a canvas bag slung over your shoulder, but when you add a half-gallon of milk, chicken stock, a box of tomato puree and a couple of canned goods to the load, that’s when the fun ends
She fell asleep for her morning nap soon after our early morning Stop and Shop run (I also learned the store opens at 6 a.m. Hmm…), and I’ve been working/procrastinating work by blogging since then — enjoying the breeze and birdsong from the sliding screen door, the cool tap water washing away the horrible taste of vacuum packed pad thai, and the occasional, sleepy squawk from the baby monitor.
It’s beautiful outside, and it’s only 11:30 a.m. Plenty time left in the day for more adventures to be had and lessons to be learned…
